Split Them All
"Cosmic Sketch & Laika Beyond The Infinite"

Split Them All is the alter ego of Ivan Matveev - bassist and sound producer from St Petersburg, Russia. Ivan claims that he learned a lot from 60-70s music: Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Motown label artists, NEU, Kraftwerk, as well as being influenced by French artists such as Air, Daft Punk and Stereolab and Russian electronic musician and composer Eduard Artemyev. These old school electronic, kraut- and space-rock tracks always have solid foundations of live drums and bass guitar with dynamic analog (and also not so analog) synths and spacey guitars over them.
Over the past few years Ivan has been working on minimalistic soundtracks for three short movies by the Israeli director and script writer Danielle Shvalboym: "Negligee", "Bitter" and "One of Third (1/3)". The latter was chosen for Short Film Corner of Cannes Film Festival in 2018.
Our latest space epic on Array is a double A side featuring the aptly named tracks 'Cosmic Sketch' & 'Laika Beyond The Infinite'. These tracks were recorded as a devotion to the revolutionary and pioneering 60's space era so that listeners could dive into an atmosphere of a space flight as it was imagine by sci-fi authors back then. First up is the expressive and filmic 'Cosmic Sketch'. The grainy piano opening unravels its feathers and effortlessly flies into a dreamy instrumental journey in which the warm timbre of the piano, guitar, bass, synth and drums tell a nostalgic tale. The hearthy feeling of Cosmic Sketch is juxtaposed with the second track on the single: 'Laika Beyond The Infinite' entices its listener with the electronic opening featuring ominous synths and cymbal. Punchy, modern and exciting, 'Laika Beyond The Infinite' is an all-encompassing experience. A short and powerful surge of synthetic beats and warped keyboard soundscapes transport you to intergalactic heights and involve your senses in a high-energy space combat.
The range of talent shown over the two distinct tracks prove that Split Them All is an artist to follow... Stay tuned for more interstellar outings on Array Recordings soon.
